Managing our land
"Our job is to do what's best for the local people and the environment. We pride ourselves on being a good neighbour."

It is important for us to ensure the land we own is managed responsibly, sustainably restored and maintained for the benefit of our business, local people, biodiversity and the communities in which we operate in.
Working in partnership with local authorities, landowners and others, we source and extract aggregates to support the development of infrastructure and construction projects across the UK.
Managed through Tarmac’s Land and Natural Resources team, we collaborate with development partners to create vibrant new communities, comprising family homes and commercial spaces, as well as numerous quarries and parkland, such as the 400-hectare Panshangar Park in Hertfordshire, which like much of our restored parkland, is an award-winning haven for both people and wildlife.
"We are committed to building a zero harm culture that prioritises people's health, safety and well-being, and targets continuous improvement."
Health and Safety
Our ambition is to realise continuous improvement for all our employees and contractors.
This approach to improving safety extends across our supply chain and to every aspect of our business - from the way we manage sites and the way we train and equip our employees and contractors - to the safety features we install on our vehicles to protect road users.
We’re proud to work with experts in the field of Health and Safety, such as the British Safety Council and The Health and Safety Executive and are also one of the founding partners of a mental health programme for people working in the construction sector called Mates in Mind.
We also have a brand-new National Skills and Safety Park – ‘The Park’ – that is home to our operational onboarding, professional operational training, assessments and health and safety learning, demonstrating our commitment to building the right safety culture as well as create an enhanced experience for employees.
We employ around 7,000 people across the UK and are committed to developing a diverse, talented and highly-skilled workforce to support the UK construction industry.
As an employer of choice, we provide a great place to work and offer a wide range of roles across the UK, with the objective of providing an environment in which people can thrive.
We help to support a talented workforce that is broadly representative of the communities we work and operate in, and have a wide range of roles available, embracing Early Careers, operatives, Apprenticeships and Graduates, to more senior roles.
