Product Marking (UKCA and CE) documentation

Download using the information supplied on your delivery ticket

For nearly a decade the UK operated under full EU membership rules for how the properties of many construction products were declared.  This was commonly described as CE marking and was in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation 2011 (CPR). The CPR. harmonises the methods of assessment and test, the means of declaration of performance and the system of conformity assessment of construction products. Such values must be expressed in a consistent technical language, as used in the technical specifications.

However, since leaving the European Union the UK committed to a new conformity marking system for all products placed on the mainland UK market; the UKCA Mark.  Modified rules apply for the Northern Ireland market.

Like the CE Mark, the UKCA Mark is a regulatory conformity mark indicating ‘fitness for intended use’ on the mainland UK market, and as signifies that appropriate, reliable performance information is being declared.

From 01.01.2022, the UKCA Mark has been permitted to be applied to products placed on the mainland UK market, and as such Tarmac has been working to replace references to the CE Mark with the UKCA Mark by the end of 2022. This means a product purchased through 2022, will have either a CE Mark or UKCA Mark documentation depending on the date that the system was changed and the destination of the delivery.

The format of UKCA Mark documentation is almost identical to the former CE Mark documentation, and most importantly the key technical elements (the performance categories declared) are identical.

Here is a summary of the two certificates:

  • The Declaration of Performance (DoP) certificate presents the essential characteristics of the products that we deliver to you.
  • The UKCA or CE marking follows the DoP and means that we have followed all the applicable procedures for drawing up our DoP and that the DoP is accurate and reliable.

From trialing and adopting the latest vehicles designs and technologies, to delivering industry leading driver training programmes and playing an active role in educating local communities, safety and sustainability are at the heart of our operations.

Partnership

Working closely with vehicle manufacturers, we were the first to trial the Mercedes Benz Econic mixer design with enhanced field of vision and low entry cab. Current collaborations include a research and development partnership with Nottingham Trent University, looking at innovative technologies to enhance safety for vulnerable road users.

Community

An ongoing community engagement programme has seen us deliver hundreds of road safety sessions in schools up and down the country, raising awareness of the importance of safety awareness of trucks among more than 3,000 pupils in 2019.

Flexibility

The scale and agility of our fleet and our internal expertise means we’re able to provide the right planning and vehicles for projects of all sizes.

We work closely with our rail team to deliver materials in the optimum way.

Our business isn't simply about construction materials, it's about the people.
