Visitors to Stafford Orchard Park in Quorn can now enjoy a picnic in the park after a donation from Tarmac’s Mountsorrel Quarry helped Quorn Parish Council install several new seating areas.

The quarry organised for three asphalt bases to be laid so that the parish council could install two memorial benches, that had been donated by local residents, along with a picnic table.

Councillor Carolyn Thornborow, chair of Quorn Parish Council, said: “On behalf of the Council and the village of Quorn we would like to thank Tarmac for their help installing the two new bench and picnic table bases they installed for us last year.

“Stafford Orchard is an important asset for the whole village to enjoy and it really helps to know that a local company is willing to support this resource for the whole community.”

Rob Lees, senior area operations manager at Tarmac’s Mountsorrel Quarry, said: “With the weather improving and spring wildlife thriving, it’s an ideal time to be enjoying the outdoors and all that Stafford Orchard has to offer.

“We were pleased to be able to assist the parish council in installing the new seating areas. We hope that people visiting Stafford Orchard make good use of the new facilities, while taking in the local scenery.”

Stafford Orchard is Quorn’s main park and occupies a prime spot in the centre of the village. The park was redesigned in 2010 and is run by Quorn Parish Council with the assistance of volunteers on the Stafford Orchard Advisory Group.
