Tarmac backs next generation of disabled athletes

August 2, 2021

We are a proud partner of the Weir Archer Academy, a unique training and coaching facility which supports and inspires the next generation of disabled athletes.

From upgrading facilities and equipment to providing life skills coaching and work experience, the partnership has seen Weir Archer and Tarmac working hand in hand to enable even more aspirational athletes and young people to realise their ambitions.

Most recently, we were delighted to hear that Weir Archer Academy founder David Weir CBE and athlete Fabienne André have both been selected to represent the UK at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

Graeme Boylen, Tarmac’s HR director, said: “Our involvement with the Weir Archer Academy began in 2019 and is about so much more than the upgrading of facilities. We are invested in the success of these young athletes and in the Weir Archer family. As a business, we continue to be impressed by their commitment and hard work, especially during the pandemic.

“More recently, we have partnered with the athletes to help them develop their CVs, promote themselves to gain employment, and provided work experience opportunities. We are excited to see what they can achieve both on and off the track and can’t wait to see David and Fabienne take part in Tokyo 2020.”
