Tarmac has donated £18,000 worth of construction materials towards a new £1.4m residential centre for Girlguiding in North Yorkshire.
The UK’s leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business has provided a range of Tarmac products to Girlguiding North Yorkshire West’s redevelopment of its Birk Crag County HQ, a residential, training and activity centre which is situated close to Harrogate.
The new centre, when open, is expected to be used by up to 2,500 people each year and will feature an activity room for 120 people, residential accommodation for 40 people, a woodland trail, a sensory garden, a facility for an outdoor campfire, training facilities, and a base for the charity’s county office, shop and meeting rooms.
Jean Tennant, the County Commissioner for Girlguiding North Yorkshire West, said: “We’re extremely grateful for Tarmac’s contribution to this project and welcome its generosity in providing building materials. The new facility will provide countless Rainbows, Brownies, Guides & Rangers with invaluable life skills which will help guide them in their personal development and future careers.”
