Villagers young and old will reap the benefits of Tarmac’s generosity after a donation helped them resurface a dilapidated car park at their village hall.
Tarmac donated £2,000 towards the work needed to repair the car park at Middleton Village Hall, which is also used by neighbouring Middleton Community Primary School.
Mark Schofield, one of the trustees at the village hall, said: “The hall is a real hub of our small community and – amongst its many uses – is sometimes used as an extra classroom by the school.
“The car park at the hall had become quite sorry looking so we are delighted Tarmac generously stepped in to help.”
As well as resurfacing the area, new parking bay markings will be applied, and other areas tidied up. The funds came from Tarmac’s neighbouring Dene Quarry.
Aaron Laycock, manager at Dene Quarry, said: “As a company, we always like to help out in the community wherever we can and to see that this will benefit the school as well is an added bonus.”
