Tarmac has launched Aggblock Lite, a range of ultra-low-density aggregate blocks to help housebuilders, builders, groundworkers meet the requirements of current housing targets and Part L legislation, while also aligning with the Future Homes Standard.
In a significant move for the UK’s leading sustainable construction materials supplier, Aggblock Lite will build on Tarmac’s existing portfolio of blocks. Available in 3.6N and 7.3N, Aggblock Lite is thermally efficient, highly versatile and suitable for a variety of general construction work, as well as structural applications including above and below ground, and beam and block floors.
The range also includes Aggblock Lite Foundation which has been produced specifically for 350mm wide walls allowing for increased cavity width and, in turn, enabling more insulating wall designs. It features recess grooves to make handling easier and safer while also having light weight properties which means more blocks per load resulting in more environmentally friendly transportation.
Kealan Hunt, commercial director – blocks at Tarmac, commented: “At Tarmac, we recognise that climate change is driving major changes in standards across the construction sector and the UK housing market. That’s why we are committed to leading the development of innovative, high-performance materials that will help the UK build a more sustainable future.
“Our new range of blocks offers a number of benefits including a high level of thermal insulation which meets a number of building requirements. Below ground, the range also replaces the inner and outer leaf, wall ties and cavity fill associated with traditional methods of construction, not only does this save materials, but it can also halve the construction time.”
