Tarmac has joined Warrington Youth Zone’s family of founder patrons, a group of businesses and philanthropists who are united in support of young people and their ambition to see Warrington flourish.
The facility is part of a national charity which has created a network of Youth Zones across the country, providing young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Tarmac, the UK’s leading sustainable building materials group is giving its support to the £6.9 million facility delivered by OnSide Youth Zones.
Paul Fleetham, managing director of Tarmac’s contracting business, said: “After visiting the Hive Youth Zone in Birkenhead and seeing the tremendous difference to young people and the community, we were inspired to support the new Warrington Youth Zone.
“We’re committed to investing in young people whether it be helping them into employment and training them through qualifications and courses for a career in construction, or helping provide opportunities for them to develop soft skills and gain key life experiences like the Youth Zone will do.”
The state-of-the-art Youth Zone will offer thousands of young people from Warrington access to an indoor climbing wall, 3G kick pitch, four court sports hall, dance and drama studio, training kitchen, arts and crafts space, fully equipped gym, music room with recording studio, enterprise suite and much more.
Warrington Youth Zone will open seven days a week for young people aged between seven and 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs. Young people will pay £5 per year to be a member and then just 50p every time they visit.
Dave McNicholl, chief executive of Warrington Youth Zone said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Tarmac for joining our family of founder patrons.
“Once open, Warrington Youth Zone will provide young people with somewhere safe to spend their leisure time, discover their talents and develop their skills, but we can’t do it without the support from businesses such as Tarmac.”
