Topflow Screed A
Low carbon, cement free liquid floor screed
Topflow Screed A is a low carbon, cement free liquid floor screed that can be placed quickly over large areas and delivers a high quality finish.
It is made with a unique synthetic anhydrite binder in place of cement and has a free flowing, self compacting formulation that allows it to be quickly pumped into place over large areas. This enables floor areas of up to 1,200m² to be completed in single a day. It can also be used in thinner sections than conventional screeds and has a higher thermal conductivity, making it the natural choice for use with underfloor heating systems.
Topflow Screed A is cement free and has an installed carbon footprint saving of 20.45kg CO2e/m2 compared to sand cement screed, a binder made from 98% recycled material and an overall recycled content of 36%.
Topflow Screed A is among the lowest carbon floor screeds available in the UK.
It delivers an 80% lower carbon footprint compared to a conventional sand-cement screed. Carbon emissions per square metre are further reduced by the lower depth requirement (typically <40mm Vs 65mm) and reduction in material volumes. This results in 87% reduction in carbon emissions per square metre along with additional savings in emissions from fewer deliveries.
The reduction in the height and weight of floors when using thinner screeds in multi storey buildings, enables architects and engineers to achieve further savings in carbon emissions during the design process.
(Note: Our carbon footprint figures are calculated using PAS 2050 methodology. The carbon emissions per square metre comparison was based on Topflow Screed A installed at 40mm and a standard 4:1 sand and cement screed installed at 65mm in a floating application)

Topflow Screed A FD E2C Faster drying, early to cover technology brings together all the benefits you expect from Tarmac’s Screed A range, but now with a faster drying, low skin option. FD E2C technology has been designed to be an addition to the Tarmac screed range to give a faster drying, low skin solution without affecting the characteristics of the mix. Tarmac’s Screed A FD E2C has been proven to dry at least twice as quickly under normal conditions on-site installation when compared to our standard Tarmac Topflow Screed A. And in laboratory trials carried out at (20 degrees / 65% RH) will be able to attain 75% relative humidity (%RH) before most flowing screeds. By using Tarmac Topflow Screed A FD E2C, non-sensitive floor coverings can be laid in as little as 21 to 28 days dependent on screed thickness 50mm and local conditions. For sensitive flooring coverings Tarmac Topflow Screed A FD E2C is also significantly faster than the standard calcium sulphate to attain 75% RH and therefore allow covering earlier.
Topflow Screed A Thermio + is the only thermal screed with a guaranteed minimum thermal conductivity backed by BBA. For underfloor heating it offers a Thermal conductivity of 2.5 W/m.K *(Nominal Value) and up to a 30% increase in thermal emission and up to 80% of thermal diffusivity for faster increase of temperature.
Topflow Screed A FINIO is an ultra-thin liquid screed that can be installed at depths down to 20mm. It offers up to 60% reduced depth when unbonded compared to traditional sand cement screed and is up to 60% lighter, with weights down to 40 kg/m². This makes it ideal for renovation projects to help maximise ceiling heights or where there is a need to reduce floor weights.
Topflow Screed A Excelio is ideal for thin section job sites Screed A Excelio can be bonded as thin as 12mm to 30mm and unbonded 20mm to 50mm primarily designed to be a bonded screed bridging the gap between smoothing compounds and bonded screeds 30mm.
Topflow Screed A XTR is designed for use with underfloor heating systems and where higher than usual loadings are expected. Topflow Screed A XTR is suitable for applying as a floating screed and can be used in both domestic and commercial buildings, providing excellent thermal conductivity.
Topflow Screed A Soundbar is designed specifically for use over timber joints both in masonry and timber framed designs. This screed is suitable for both commercial and residential projects where improved acoustic, loading and durability are required. With its free-flowing capability, up to 1,200m2 of Topflow Screed A Soundbar can be laid per day.
Topflow Screed A Steeldeck has been designed specifically to be used with the Lewis Deck dovetail sheeting for use with either timber, metal web or steel joists in masonry, timber or lightweight steel structures. Steeldeck is perfect for ground, separating or mezzanine floor constructions. With increased productivity and improved loading compared to floating floor treatments, Topflow Screed Steeldeck easily accommodates underfloor heating within the screed zone.
Topflow Screed A Sky is designed for use in high rise buildings above 10 storeys. It is specifically formulated to reduce the moisture loss to pump lines and inline segregation. Sky potentially increases productivity and up to 1,200m2 per day can be layed. Sky has a minimum thermal expansion of (0.012mm/mmK).
