Tarmac welcomes Aston Business School to inspire future leaders

December 11, 2019

A group of MBA students from Aston Business School visited Tarmac’s Solihull head office for the final segment of a programme meeting Birmingham-based companies to understand more about leadership in practice.

The group was welcomed by nine leaders from areas across Tarmac including customer experience, sustainability, technology and automation, operations and project management. Students were able to find out more about the importance of leadership within a national business and the range of expertise and disciplines within the company.

Professor Michael Butler from Aston Business School said: “Our MBA programme prioritises a highly practical, experiential approach to learning, and site visits are a key part of this. Our focus has been ‘Leading for Impact’, and Tarmac created a tailor-made package which allowed the students to explore in-depth how its leadership development initiatives have a positive impact across the business.”

Peter Spargo, Tarmac senior HR manager, a presenter at the event, explained: “It was great to welcome students from Aston Business School and share real-life examples of leadership in action. Opportunities like this give us the ability to reach people outside of our industry and work alongside other organisations in our community to support and nurture the leaders of tomorrow.”

Tarmac is committed to working with local communities and supporting the development of a highly-skilled workforce for the future. As part of that commitment, the company recently announced the opening of its 2020 Graduate Scheme – https://tarmaccareers.com/graduates/
